CHARLES FLAHAULT

Charles Henri Marie Flahault (1852 - 1935) was a French botanist, a pioneer in the fields of botanical geography, plant communities and forest ecology, illustration and popularisation of science. 

Flahault was the author of many major scientific works, the initiator of the botanical cartographer and he is the first, in France, to establish strong and lasting links between botanists and foresters. 

He was also the founder of the Botanical Institute of Montpellier, with his legacy  widely known and celebrated, several plant species have been name in his honour.
