Coco Chanel or Gabrielle Bonjeur "Coco" Chanel (1883 - 1971) the French fashion designer and founder of the iconic Chanel brand. Chanel was raised by nuns after her father left her at an orphanage at aged 12 after her mothers death. The nuns taught Chanel how to sew, a skill that would become her life’s work. It all started for Chanel in the early days of 1910 where she opened her first small hat store in Deauville, France. From there Chanel became a famed fashion designer, creating famous high end haute couture, jewellery, the quilted Chanel purse and fragrances, like Chanel No.5. This archetypal brand still has a strong influence over fashion trends today and has been at the pinnacle of fashion for some 100 years.
