Pink Nude

  • Print Description
Henri Matisse painted Pink Nude in 1935 and is undisputedly one of his most iconic art pieces. What gives the model her considerable clarity of impact is the emphatic exaggeration of the limbs, the frontal angle of the head and the suggestion of the two breasts. A stunning balance has been struck between organic and geometric form, smooth and modelled surfaces, curved lines and straight with an alluring warm and cold colour palette combined in a fine balance, which is arresting in its simplicity.  Matisse is encouraging the viewers imagination to move beyond the spatial limits of this captivating piece, by trimming the limbs at the edge of the canvas.  A beautiful expressionism art print worthy of a special place in a contemporary or vintage interior decor.
