Sultana was created by the celebrated Australian artist Henry Clive in 1925 and is regarded as the artists most defining creation.  Sultana features an exotic enchantress in an art decor Egyptian dreamscape, showcasing sophisticated additions of Moorish architecture which can been seen in the background shimmering behind the alluring Sultana.  Clive's use of lavish colour and captivating imagery makes this a true statement art piece, worthy of a special place in a contemporary or vintage inspired interior decor.

The Artist

HENRY CLIVE

Henry Clive (1882 – 1960) was an Australian-born, American graphic artist and illustrator, known particularly for his magazine cover illustration work which ultimately propelled him into being an iconic force of the art deco Jazz Age.  Clive's pastels and oils graced the covers of many magazines across America and also created calendars and murals with large fantastic nudes at Hollywood restaurants and watering holes in the 1930's and 40's.  As an artist Clive was comfortable with both pastel and oils, his original works are extremely scarce and coveted by collectors.
