Ogawa Kazumasa created the captivating hand painted Lotus Flower in 1896.  Kazumasa was the Japanese pioneer of collotype mastery in the 19th century and took photographs of flowers which he then hand painted, creating exceptional three dimensional images that come to life.  Lotus Flower is a stunning, vintage botanical art print worthy of a special place in a vintage or contemporary interior decor setting.

  • Framing
    • If you choose to frame your art with us - feel safe in the knowledge that we collaborate with an expert framer, who delivers quality custom frames and has been in the framing business for over 20 years.

You will find that our framing costs are more reasonable than your local framer, due to our business being purely online. Being online means we have lower overheads than a typical art and framing business which provides us the opportunity to pass those savings onto you, without losing any of the quality or craftsmanship of an experienced framer.

All of our frames are custom made using sustainably sourced wood and we use glass not perspex in our frames. We also offer three popular finishes of black, white and natural timber. All of our frame colours have a smooth, matte finish and have a solid structure with classic design elements that do not disappoint.

      Frame Profile

You will find that a large amount of our art is encompassed by a 5cm white border around the main image. We have done this to minimise additional costs associated with mat boards, which we do not supply as part of our framing process.

Once you have placed your order, your frame will take on average between 7 - 10 business days to make and 24hrs to securely pack and get ready to ship to your desired destination.

The Artist

OGAWA KAZUMASA

Ogawa Kazumasa (1860 - 1929) was a Japanese photographer, printer and publisher who was a pioneer in photomechanical printing and photography.

In 1889, he set up Japan's first collotype business, the Ogawa Shashin Seihan jo. In the same year, Ogawa worked as an editor for Shashin Shinpō (Photography journal), the only photographic journal available at the time.

Ogawa was a founding member of the Japan Photographic Society, which gathered photography amateurs from all around Japan. In 1891, he was charged with taking 100 pictures of Tokyo's most attractive geisha, to commemorate the opening of the Ryōunkaku.
