  • Print Description
Seated Woman with Bent Knee is one of Egon Schiele's most impressive art pieces.  This portrait of a young beautiful woman with bouncy curly hair is seated with her head resting upon her bent knee as she loosely curls her arms around her leg. This composition accompanied with her head facing towards the artist allows the viewer to feel engaged with this piece. Schiele captures the mood of his models vibrant, adventurous nature with an enchanting composition but it is the captivating gaze that is the most alluring aspect of this art print. The colour pallet is focused on the orange hair, the turquoise green sleeveless top, white ruffled shorts and black leggings.  A stunning piece of art history and figurative emotion, worthy of a special place in a contemporary, vintage or minimalist interior decor.

The Artist

Egon Schiele (1890 - 1918) was an Austrian artist and a protégé and close friend of Gustav Klimt.  Schiele and Klimt constantly inspired each other's work.  Regarded as one of the most radical painters of the 20th century, Schiele unapologetically painted using his recognisable elongated, angular figures in a honest characterisation of his subjects with bold continuous lines.

Schiele a true figurative artist would keep unbroken eye contact with his life model, not taking his pencil off the page whilst he drew.  Embellishing his sketches and forms with bright colours, creating artwork with originality in his own famously celebrated artistic style.
