  • Print Description

A young Edgar Degas painted the enchanting Young Woman with Ibis which he started in Rome 1857-58 and brought back to Paris and to finish during 1860-1862. This art print showcases a young Egyptian girl, adorning a dark teal scarf, feeding two brilliant scarlet ibis. Degas has depicted a middle eastern cityscape in the background and kept this canvas until his death in 1917. Young Woman with Ibis is an ethereal reproduction with an impressive Degas colour palette that works beautifully in an array of decor styles.

    • If you choose to frame your art with us - feel safe in the knowledge that we collaborate with an expert framer, who delivers quality custom frames and has been in the framing business for over 20 years.

You will find that our framing costs are more reasonable than your local framer, due to our business being purely online. Being online means we have lower overheads than a typical art and framing business and provides us the opportunity to pass those savings onto you, without losing any of the quality or craftsmanship of an experienced framer.

All of our frames are custom made using sustainably sourced wood and we use glass not perspex. We also offer three popular finishes of black, white and natural timber. All of our frame colours have a smooth, matte finish and have a solid structure with classic design elements that do not disappoint.

      Frame Profile

You will find that a large amount of our art encompasses a 5cm white border around the main image. We have done this to minimise additional costs associated with mat boards, which we do not supply as part of our framing process.

The Artist

EDGAR DEGAS

Edgar Degas (1834 – 1917) was a highly celebrated French impressionist artist of the 19th century famous for his pastel drawings and oil paintings of ballerinas, Degas helped shape the fine art landscape throughout modern art history.

Edgar Degas studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and became renowned as a portraitist, fusing Impressionistic sensibilities with traditional approaches. Degas enjoyed capturing female dancers - as movement and the human form was his artistic playground, Degas showcased the contrasting awkward humility of the dancer backstage with her majestic grace in the midst of performance. His work influenced several major modern artists, including Pablo Picasso.

One thing remains undeniable about Degas: His art was among the most painstakingly polished and refined paintings in history.
