  • Print Description
Wassily Kandinsky's Several Circles is a captivating example of his focus on the expressionism of abstract art.  Kandinsky's Several Circles was influenced by Goethe’s theory of the emotional effect, that colour has on its audience. This stunning abstract print employs an explosion of colour and translucencies that jump off the artwork and into the imagination of the viewer.  Kandinsky's Several Circles move and interact with each other creating a cosmic experience, with some of the circles overlapping one another, in-turn changing their colour in a harmonious symphony of composition and colour.  A truly geometric abstract piece by Wassily Kandinsky, worthy of a special place in a contemporary, vintage or minimalist interior decor.

The Artist

Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky (1866 - 1944) was a Russian painter and art theorist and is credited as the pioneer of abstract art.  After successful avant-garde exhibitions early in his career, Kandinsky founded the influential Munich group Der Blaue Reiter (“The Blue Rider”; 1911–14) and began solely focused on abstract painting. His forms evolved from fluid and organic to geometric and finally, to pictographic.

His influence on 20th-century art was so profound, Kandinsky's art is still celebrated in popular culture today.
